Quick Release Coupling

Quick Release Coupling

1. Overview

Quick Release Couplings (QRCs) are specialized fittings designed to rapidly connect and disconnect fluid lines without the need for tools. They enable efficient and leak-minimized connections in systems where frequent coupling and uncoupling is required.

These are widely known as:

  • Quick Couplers
  • Quick Connect Couplings
  • Quick Disconnect Fittings

2. Function & Working Principle

Quick couplings consist of two main parts:

  • Male Plug (Nipple)
  • Female Socket (Coupler Body)

Operation

  • The male plug is inserted into the female socket
  • An internal locking mechanism (balls/sleeves) secures the connection
  • Internal valves automatically open to allow fluid flow
  • Upon disconnection, valves close instantly → preventing leakage or fluid loss

3. Applications

Used in both hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including:

  • Hydraulic machinery and equipment
  • Air compressor lines
  • Construction and mining equipment
  • Automotive service systems
  • Industrial fluid transfer systems

4. Materials of Construction

Quick couplings are manufactured in different materials depending on application requirements:

  • Stainless Steel (SS316)
    • Corrosion-resistant
    • Suitable for chemical and marine environments
  • Carbon Steel
    • High strength
    • Ideal for heavy-duty hydraulic applications
  • Brass
    • Good corrosion resistance
    • Common in pneumatic and low-pressure systems

5. Size Range

  • Available from 1/4” to 2” (standard sizes)
  • Custom sizes may be available depending on application
