Hydraulic Clamp

Hydraulic Clamp

1. What Exactly This Clamp Is

This is a DIN 3015 standard hydraulic pipe clamp, widely used in:

  • Hydraulic lines
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Industrial piping setups

It is specifically designed to:

  • Hold pipes firmly in position
  • Absorb vibrations
  • Prevent metal-to-metal contact

2. Construction Details

a) Clamp Body (Green Block)

  • Made of Polypropylene (PP) / Polyamide (Nylon) / Rubber-lined
  • Split into two halves to enclose the pipe
  • Provides:
  • Shock absorption
  • Noise reduction
  • Corrosion protection

b) Top Plate

  • Mild Steel / Stainless Steel
  • Tightened using hex bolts
  • Applies compressive force to hold the pipe

c) Bottom Plate / Base Plate

  • Mounted on a structure (frame/channel)
  • May be welded or bolted
  • Ensures stable anchoring

d) Fasteners (Bolts & Nuts)

  • Usually zinc-plated or SS
  • Provide adjustable tightening force

3. Working Principle

  • Pipe is placed inside the semi-circular groove of the clamp block
  • Top half + plate are placed above
  • Bolts are tightened → creates uniform clamping pressure
  • The plastic/rubber insert:
  • Distributes load evenly
  • Dampens vibration and shock

4. Key Features

  • Vibration damping (very important in hydraulic systems)
  • Prevents pipe wear and fatigue
  • Easy installation & removal
  • Modular (can be stacked in multiple layers)
  • Available in light, heavy, and twin series

5. Types Based on Load

Type Use Case
Light Series Low-pressure lines
Heavy Series High-pressure hydraulic lines
Twin Series Parallel pipe routing

6. Applications

  • Hydraulic power packs
  • CNC machines
  • Construction equipment
  • Oil & gas pipelines
  • Automotive and industrial machinery

7. Advantages Over Normal Clamps

  • Reduces vibration-induced failures
  • Increases pipe life
  • Maintains alignment accuracy
  • Prevents loosening due to dynamic loads

8. Important Selection Parameters

  • Pipe outer diameter (OD)
  • Operating pressure & vibration level
  • Material (PP / Nylon / Rubber-lined)
  • Temperature resistance
  • Mounting type
